Ever wonder why some orgasms leave you energized while others send you into dreamland before you get a chance to say, “’Night, Babe”?

Earlier this week, Metro News published a fascinating piece, “More than intercourse ,” that featured a course in orgasmic meditation or conscious sensuality . According to the article, there are two types of orgasms, valley and peak. “Valley orgasms…are associated with stillness, muscular relaxation and intimate connection. Valley orgasms energize; peak orgasms can be exhausting.”
A `yogasm’ is an orgasm that “comes before full release, with the focus on extending and enhancing this moment” within the valley orgasm. The instructors claim that the course is a spiritual experience, “for anybody who wants to feel (his or her) sexual life come into harmony with …the natural world.”
The article explains this orgasmic meditation is a spiritual approach to sex that offers greater emotional awareness, more connected relationships, and a greater sense of fulfillment in life. It’s a practice influenced by modern psychology as well as ancient Eastern traditions, and gives students a total mind/body experience in sensuality.
Wow. Count me sold!

Yummy posting! Isn’t this the same as Tantra?

Good question, Emmanuel. The article says that this “new wave of sexual exploration” places the ancient practices of Tantric sex and Kama Sutra squarely in the present, aiming to help modern couples (both gay and straight) find sexual satisfaction.
And the Toronto-based Remski refers to Tantric, Ayurvedic and Taoist texts for his course. So it seems like this course is based on the ancient lovemaking techniques, but with a modern twist.
I really want to try it out. Now, to convince my lover to try something new…
