So it only took an office holiday party, about 6 hours of shopping, gift wrapping, and four goodie recipes to get me into the spirit of the season. Now the cheer is coursing through my veins and I gotta let it out!

A gift for a health nut | Gifts a person living a healthy lifestyle might like

It’s less than a week away and if you’re like me, you’ve only just begun picking out gifts. Thought I’d help you out a bit with some suggestions for the health nut on your Christmas list:

Canadians are extremely fortunate. Yes, in many ways but specifically, our healthcare has been rated as one of the best in the world (we were 30 out of 191 back in 2000).

More often than not, however, you’ll hear someone complain about their experiences with our healthcare system. Recently, I’ve been experiencing some unusual symptoms that I’ve mentioned several times to a specialist whom I’ve been seeing regularly for about three years (for a separate problem in the same region). I had to ask for her to take tests and when they came back negative, it seemed to be enough for her to drop the subject all together.

A year later, several more tests, another doctor and my insistence, we finally found something that could be causing my extra symptoms.

This is a 5-step health plan I created in February 2007. Shedding much of my extra weight quickly, I felt lighter in body, mind and spirit. My concentration, energy and overall well-being tripled.

Five Steps to Loosing 25 lbs in 3 Months | Total Health Blog | Healthy Lifestyle | Get the Most Out of Life

After consulting your doctor, I encourage you to try incorporating any or all of the following steps into your individually designed health plan.

STEP #1: THREE IMPORTANT WEIGHT-LOSS FACTS

1) To lose weight you MUST burn more calories than you consume

That means slowing down while you munch. I became more conscious while eating. Eventually, depending on how active I was during the day, my portions were cut almost in half. I was eating almost every two hours: a small, healthy snack (e.g. half a banana) once in the AM and once in the PM. This kept me satisfied throughout the day so I wasn’t binging come dinner time. Some experts say this raises metabolism.
